Centara Duangtawan Hotel

Breakfast was good but I won't stay there again
The breakfast was good but I won't stay there again
6.3
The stay was ok - the pool and the breakfast was good. My issues were: I needed internet and the internet in the room was the worst I've seen in Chiang Mai (0.36mb per second downloads). Their lobby had internet but I couldn't connect with 2 of my laptops for some reason so I had to use their computers in the lobby. Our bed sheets weren't changed the whole 4 days being there and had the same stains on there the whole time form before we got there. Other than that the stay was ok. I won't be going back though.

Although ideally located the Hotel is old and in need of refurbishment. The hotel was able to charge high rates to to the high season in Chiang Mai. The stay was suitable however there is much better value available in Chiang Mai for the money

excellent
The staff were very efficient and helpful. The room was spacious well equipped and clean. The food on the restaurant was excellent and well priced.

It was good apart from dirty windows made it difficult to see the city views. and it was hard to get a lift to get downstairs. They are my only gripes..

for the price this would have to be one of the best hotels around. Very good in every way.

Some of the reviews on here seem to be pretty damning. I think people need to realise this isn't one of Centara's luxurious resorts which you'll find in Hua Hin or Phuket. It's an older hotel in Chiang Mai, but it is absolutely fine for a short stay and extremely well priced. Firstly, the location is 10/10, literally one minute from the Night Bazaar which is full of restaurants, bars and shops. Our room was very nice, recently refurbished with wooden floors, a flat screen TV and two huge windows over looking the mountain and city. The only downside would be the bathroom which seemed to still have slightly older fittings. I've seen some other reviewers say their room was not yet refurbished and still quite old, if that's the case then I'd recommend you request this before booking as I gather they are still in the process of upgrading the rooms. The facilities in the hotel are very good, the pool is perfect for an evening swim (a little cold though) and the gym is as good as you'll find in any hotel in South East Asia, certainly better than the gyms at the Centara in Hua Hin or Bangkok. Although it's in a slightly older surrounding the vast amount of equipment and free weights are brilliant. We had breakfast in the hotel every morning which was also very good. They have a huge selection of western and Asian dishes as well as fresh fruit, cereal and cakes. The staff were also extremely friendly and attentive. The only negatives I have to say are firstly the poor wifi in the rooms. I've had better wifi in hotels in Laos and Myanmar than they have there. You would expect better, but it wasn't a major issue. The elevators are also small and slow, as others have said you might have to miss a few at peak times as they're full. Other than that the hotel was great and I would definitely recommend it.

good hotel...terrible internet
location, food, staff

I requested a "big bed" (queen or king size) but was told that if I wanted a "big" bed, the internet was bad, or not working...so I had to choose two small beds. Even then the internet was either not working, or had frequent disconnects. Other than that, the hotel was very nice...clean, friendly staff, and good location, near night bazaar. I would strongly recommend this hotel, unless you plan to use wifi ..then its a risk.

We stayed 4 days, great location and value for your money. The pool look better in the pictures, the gym was nicely equipped. I would stay here again.

Poor service
Close to centre, reasonable bed

No porter service, bad service in driveway when I arrived, noise carried through from room next door, no free water in room, massage service poor with rude masseur who talked all the way through massage telling me how poor she was and was then rude about size of tip I have her

the location of the hotel is very good.
the location, low price, alot of frut in the breakfast

The elevators are disasters, you have to wait and they are so slowly. At breakfast there are so little vegetables and no cheese or yogurts. What is good at this hotel is his location in the center and you can go by your foot.

gd price good location
