very nice stay in this hotel
Our stay was nice. Peaceful and relaxing. Very quiet place. Architecture of the hotel created a great ambience. Swimming pool was clean and big. It also helped that very little people were there. The hotel was quite far from chiang mai city. If you looking to explore the city this will not be the preferred location as it cost 2500THB to get to the city. But if you want to chill and unwind for a long week end this is the place to go. There are quite a few things you can do close by: elephant camps, zip lining, canoeing. The service overall from the hotel needs improvement: quality of the food , service at the restaurants and the spa. Quality of food - despite having quite a big variety, food it self was not up to standard for a 5 star hotel. Thai food was much better then western. Service at restaurants - staff knew that there were clientes in the restaurant and on the outdoor side of the restaurant, however remained on the other side of the wall that separated the service area from the restaurant ( we couldn't see them) talking to each other. Every time a person needed anything they needed to get up or shout. Not very relaxing Spa - my treatment was great ( I had a aroma therapy massage). my husband however had the worst Thai massage in his life. Actually I can't even discribe that as a Thai massage. It was an hour an a half of simply squeezing the muscle (like checking if the fruit is ripe) we mentioned repeatedly that it need to be with more pressure and stretching, bone cracking (like a real Thai massage) However none of that happened. After we finished we had to talk with management, as this is unacceptable. They have him a 30min free Thai massage. I guess no point arguing for a full 1:30hour massage when you are trying to relax
Overall it deserves a five-star hotel level, but because we tried another five-star Thai hotel which is called Aleenta Resort and then we found Sibsan Resort's service is not heartwarming and make customers feel at home. For instance, they could offer a noodle station to increase the variety of the breakfast which we found too dull for our four-day stay. They could light some fragrant oil and fill the fruit basket every evening. These are just inexpensive steps but some caring ways to pamper their customers for a relaxing vacation.
It was one of the most romantic getaways if not the most romantic getaway I have ever experienced. Great Bungalow with great pool right outside your door .
Fantastic and we will be returning! Beautiful serene countryside with the river gushing past the resort. Stunning individual bungalows decorated in gorgeous Thai style interiors. A beautiful experience.
This hotel is very beautiful. The grounds and surroundings are wonderful to look at. The pool is also very nice. The staff are very friendly. However, it does seem to take awhile for them to get a lot of things done (even when they seem overstaffed). For the most part I did not find it problematic, and would consider staying here again if it was a good deal.
Enjoyable and very pleasant. Worth spending time and money. We will definitely come back here :,)
High quality hotel at a reasonable price. Beautiful mountainous area not far from Chiang mai city.
It was quite a good experience to stay in this hotel. We checked in about 4 pm and enjoyed ourselves near the pool side through out the evening. Dinner is average but prices of dishes are reasonable. Staff is attentive. I consider this probably the best resort in Mae Taeng.
Highly recommended for this hotel, it's worth your money. Very nice view, very nice staff, like in a paradise.
The resort was a nice area to stay, in the hills and a quiet area to relax. excellent swimming pool, friendly staff, ok dining.
Clean, reasonable and clean. Very good pool, very nice place, very good food
At first i used Google Maps to navigate to Sibsan but there are two Sisan Hotel in Chiangmai; One in Mae Rim (not much far from city)and another is quiet far and isolate more into the jungles. My family was complainning while driving to the resort just because it was really a long way deep into the mountain or have to say it is almost at the end of the route.you need a car and a navigator to make sure you come to the right way becuase the route sign is so small. It will get better when u reach the place because it kind of a huge hide away resort but it just changed "owner" couple months ago and it not owns by "thai people" anymore.i hope the Management Level will still be able to keep the beautiful nature with elephants like this continuously. All in all, good place if you seek private life with your loved ones but u might feel lonely if u go alone...too quiet! The staffs said it is the beat hotel in those area.
It was so relaxing that I will surely come back to stay longer someday in the near future. We stayed at the executive room. It was very spacious and just so relaxing. You can see elephants going by from the window. Bathroom is nice, full of hot water and there was no problem to have a nice hot bath after swiming in their huge swimming pool. Biking around in the resort was fun, too.
Very good, I will come again ,I will introduce to my friends know this hotel, I also have spread photos to FACEBOOK.
Amazing stay. We stayed in the luxury resort and our villa was footsteps from the pool. The main restaurant overlooks the pool with beautiful candles and lights in the trees. The staff are really lovely, especially those at the restaurant, the boys driving golf buggies, the room cleaners and the front desk. The coffee house overlooks a river and each day elephants from the camp next door walk past. The resort is an hour drive from the airport so I recommend arranging an airport transfer through the resort. Will definitely stay here again if I retrun to Thailand.
This is the place to get away from anything. It's a very peaceful resort in the middle of the woods yet has everything you ask for.
We arrived at the Sibsan Resort Maeteang with high expectations, having just stayed at their sister hotel in Chiang Mai itself (which is breathtakingly excellent). Sadly, the Resort has a tired and somewhat unfriendly feel. Perhaps this is because of the recent change of name and 'ownership' (the hotel used to be known as the Rawee Waree Luxury Resort). But there are clearly staffing issues. English language skills are poor to weak, and perhaps in consequence staff tend to hide away (in the small room beside the restaurant for example, or in the gym) rather than engage with the customers. That said, the location is excellent, the rooms are fine (if perhaps a little dated in style for a top class hotel), and the food is good. What happens in the future will be determined by the new management.
This was a very nice resort. The room was its own separate building. It was large and nicely designed and very comfortable. It had a big bathroom with a walkin shower and large tub. The room opened onto the swimming pool with a nice deck. The food was very good also.
A beautiful, sprawling resort which is about 12Km away from the town of Mae Taeng. Getting there can be a bit of a challenge, but so worth it. The Villas are opulently decorated, and nothing short of luxurious. Our unit backed onto the massive pool, which made swimming very easy. They are right next to an Elephant camp, and it's normal to see them at all times of the day. There are other recreation options around as well (zip line, bamboo rafting). Beds are great, and bathrooms have abundant hot water. Previous reviews mentioned weak wi-fi, but we found the connection to be rock solid and fast enough for video streaming. They also have DVD players in the room, if you want to pack your own entertainment. A short walk outside the resort will get you a couple of convenience type shops, and small local restaurants. We ate outside of the resort for both nights of our stay, and thoroughly enjoyed it! The resort breakfast was made to order from their menu. I had the eggs benedict, and well... give it a miss. The Hotel will shuttle you into Mae Taeng for B500. From there, you can catch the big orange bus (if you're so inclined) to CM for B20. Overall, a beautiful, relaxing stay.
good, if you after a quiet resort, the hotel is one hour from airport cost 900b one way, no near by restaurant hotel is a only choice. Do not order steak
Very nice stay. One thing to be noted here is that, the photos of your room in agoda might not be the one you get. Anyway, its still nice and comfortable. Very helpful and nice stuff. Very clean and comfortable. Hotel for guest to rest and relax. One thing that really amaze us is that, you could see elephant groups right outside your rooms if you stay besides river. Swimming pool is nice. Food a bit pricey, but no much choice within that area. Elephant camp just right besides. Coffee shop is a must go, very nice view and nice coffee. We enjoy our stay. Bring some snacks and drinks with you. Very nice place to stay 2-3 nights and include in your chiang mai trip.
The Rawee Waree Resort (now Sibsan) is located wonderfully in the hills north of Chiang Mai. It is a great getaway with beautifully maintained grounds. The hotel is designed very well such that although there are many units, you feel as though you are secluded enough from your neighbours to feel alone. The food at the resort is good, but not fantastic. Some things (like lattes, fresh juice, and homemade cookies) are great but the buffet, although good, is lacking. I have come to realize that the problem with buffets is that it tends to focus on quantity (volume and number of options) rather than quality. I would much rather fewer choices but higher quality. For the chef, it much be much nicer to know someone asked for something to be made rather than making mass quantities to fill plates.
Everyday we could watch the nature from a luxiourius place with wonderful stuff and food.
Great stay, lovely location, great room, meals were excellent even for a vegetarian.
The hotel is very much above expectation. The room is comfortable with a big bathroom having bath tub and shower area. The hotel also has great coffee house with superb view of mountain and creek. There is also a tower where you could go up to see the excellent view of the hotel. This is the place where I would strongly recommend my frinds to stay when they go CM.
